Artur and I had a good experience in the production of our poem. It was really easy for us to make each line because we just made it rym like a rap. I am ussualy very bad at coming up with lines for regular poems, however, when I rym it makes it a lot easier for me to go with the flow. I thought our poem turned out pretty good at the end. It showed the difficulties of living in a town 8 miles away from where you go to school and just a poorer neighborhood in general. We did exagerate how hard our lives are just a little, but you can get where we're coming from. Also, making this poem has let me know that I can make a good poem. And I've already done so in other of my classes.
copy of poem:
8 mile 2 burlingame
wake up! six-thirty!
get out of bed and our clothes are still dirty.
make it to the kitchen table,
we still have to watch that old san bruno cable.
everyday’s the same,
because we’re still 8 miles from burlingame.
it’s 30 minutes to school
just to get in class and sit on a stool.
don't have the money to get any brunch,
plus finals coming up so we’ve got to crunch.
we study hard
to get straight A's
‘cuz without those in the world
there ain't no place.
if we come up short and can’t please the Man,
we’ll just be trash in a garbage can
tick-tock, like a clock, we work all day
us SB kids don’t have time to play
after school, it’s all the same.
we have to take the bus, but we got no shame.
‘cuz we’re still 8 miles from burlingame.
from the bus, we walk through the park,
like blind men, lost in the dark.
we get home real late
and food ain't on our plate.
momma ain't home, she’s out shoppin’.
everybody's gone, and there ain't no stoppin’.
now we'll study hard all through the night
maybe tomorrow we'll start a fight.
really don't matter because it's all the same
we're still 8 miles from burlingame.

Today was the best day of my life.
As I was looking for fruit near the top of the island I spotted a plane. It was small; it looked like a private plane. Seeing that I only had a few minutes before the plane would fly over I began to sprint to my fire. Knowing that I had to act fast I grabed the burning peices of wood with my bare hands and ran with it back to the top of the mountain. And as the plane flew over head I threw the fire through the air. The plane quickly turned around and landed on the long strip of beach. And when i got down to the plane it turned out to be Chuck Liddel who took me home safely while he told me of his old fight stories. I was finally saved.

week 3
This week has been the toughest so far. It has rained non stop for over 4 days. I can't seem to get food because almost no animals come out in he rain. And when i tried to go fishing i couldn't see into the water because of the rain. The only up side to the rain is that i can finally have clean source of water. I have spent most my time this week making different instruments to collect the rain.
However, something happen to me this week that i have never experienced so far. I finally realized hat I may never make it off this island. there hasn't been one sign of civilization yet. Not one boat; not one plane. For the last two days until now I couldn't move. The feeling of hopelessness kept me from doing anything. I told myself again and again to get up, but my body wouldn't let me.

week 3
I have been keeping track of the number of days i have been stranded on this island by carving the days into the side of the cave. I have found some sort of hope in the fact that I can see commercial jets fly over every couple days, however, too far away to ever see me. Just the other day i was walking along the beach when I saw a full can of beer floating towards the shore. My only explanation of how it got there is that it must have been in my plane when it went down in the ocean. When I touched the can I suddenly remembered how I used to hang out for hour with my dad and my friends at Tahoe. I would give anything to be there now. But, I know I can't. So, I took the beer and made the can into a small pot which I may be able to use later. Maybe i could use it to boil water.

week 2
week 2
i have found shelter in the form of a decent sized cave on the side of a cliff on the east side of the island. i like the fact that it would be hard for other animals to get into it. i have tried to stay away from the forest in fear of the beast. all I' ve eatn is a couple of fish and a big bull frog that i found near a pond. to get the fish i simply just hit them with a big stick when they swam near the shore. but, i still haven't made a fire. i can't keep eating these things without cooking them. im starting to get a really bad stomach ace. so far the nights haven't been too cold, but, when winter sets in ill need some sort of warmth. maybe tomarrow ill look for some wood to make a fire.

life on a desserted island

week 1
I'm in a state of disbelief, i am completely alone on an island i know nothing about. i am getting sores all over my skin from lying on the hard sand all day. my back is killing me from the crash, which i barely survived. last night i wondered off into the jungle to find some sort of food or shelter. however, about a 100 meters into the twisted branches and vines i saw the beast. it stared at me with piercing yellow eyes. the rest of its body blended in with the dark mangled forest. but, by the size of its eyes the creature must have been big enouph to fit a mans head in its mouth. i quickly jolted back to the shelter of the beach. i ran and jumped into the ocean in the mind set that what ever it was that was behind me was still chasing me; but it wasn't.
